This is a Large Tree Conk measuring 16\" across, 12 1/2\" tall, and 4 1/2\" thick. It is dried, sealed with gesso then painted with acrylics and metallics and sealed with acrylics. This painting took sveral days to complete. All the sides of the Conk are sealed to further preserve it and it should be around for 100 years. I mounted it on to a 2\" thick slab of Kiln-dried Wood as a counter balance using dowels glued in with Marine glue. The bottom of the Wood slab has a piece of Wool glued to it so it will not scratch the furniture. This would look nice on a Cabin Mantle or shelf. Tree Conks grow on dead trees and, when dry, feel like hard wood. The backs often look like a beach shell. The painting surfaces are sometimes nice (like this one) and sometimes full of woodpecker holes. This item will be carefully packaged for travel to your home.
