One of the great things about living near the confluence of the American River and the Sacramento River is the beautiful sunsets reflected in their waters. I work and teach at Patris studio and gallery In Sacramento, where there are a great number of fine artists who paint mostly \"en plein air.\" We get together often to go out and paint. This day we had a full afternoon of work and Just as we were packing to leave The sky became dramatic. Well, there is no time to do a full painting, just enough light to the quick Sketch and make some Color note. I have tried several times to capture that exhilarating moment. This is the best of those efforts. \" The California landscape needs nothing but glorification\".

\"It is my purpose as an artist to interpret reality, simplify it, reorganize it and reinterpret it. I want my work to capture a moment in time. To do this I focus on color and how It influences our perception of time in space, and how it can project a mood.\"
