The child has an extraordinary face done on crepe paper over the paper mache. The costume is extraordinary with crepe clothes, a red hat, a jacket with a checked border, red boots and knee high knickers. Just an amazing piece. The child sits on a wonderful pink pot with a reddish lid. The color palette of this candy container is so wonderful and sophisticated. It is one of a pair that we have from an extraordinary collection. It is signed France on the bottom of the kettle. It has the most wonderful expression and form! The top opens to put the candy inside. It dates to c1900. A very rare and wonderful piece for the discerning collector of Candy Containers, Children, Toys, Holiday, Halloween, Christmas. There is really no apparent loss or damage to the paper mache. The paint is in superb condition! There is one tiny spot of flaking from the face. The crepe paper costume has some loss from the back shoulder area. The container stands 5 3/8 inches (13.5 cm) tall. The pot is 5 inches (12.5 cm) wide from handle to the other side.
