Carol Matyia-Ross developed her artistic eye at Paier College of Art in Connecticut, where she studied illustration. Following the completion of her studies, Matyia-Ross began to accept work as a free lance illustrator, which allowed her to do varied and interesting work for clothing brochures and cookbooks. Even in these illustrations, Matyia-Ross’s unique and organic style seeped in; when rendering clothing, she would make each article look “lived in.” Matyia-Ross’s career as a full-time painter took off after working with artist Robert Heindel. Heindel’s work ethic and passion for art inspired her to paint full time and develop her own style. Heindel also encouraged a reluctant Matyia-Ross to make prints of her work, which have since been incredibly popular in galleries around the world.

Matyia-Ross’s finds her inspiration everywhere, particularly in the beautiful garden at her Connecticut home. She paints luscious fruits and vegetables as well as delicate flowers in watercolor, her favorite medium. Matyia-Ross‘s love for nature is contagious; collectors from the US to Japan are captivated by her work.

Hi all, I’ve been getting a lot of messages complaining that it looks like I’m using tacks to hold the prints I photograph. I DO NOT use tacks or pins; I use magnets or large paperclips that do not leave marks or otherwise injure the prints. I am an artist as well as a dealer and I would never do anything that would do damage to the artwork I sell.
