Outer massive 18k gold casing is painted with thin black Chinese lacquer and carved into a beautiful floral pattern. Rare technique.
The mechanism inside was designed by Robert Hocqin1968 andlater patented. It had been used by Cartier for more than two decades in their Le Must collections of lighters.Bottomplate marks: CartierPARIS, PLARGENT G 30 MICRONS,sign of Triumphal arch with S and F lettersinside (Société Francispam).
Casing marks on the bottom of outer casing: 750 for 18k gold plusalozengeshaped mark, not too visible.Most likely a hallmark of a Florentine artisan/goldsmith who crafted this unique casing (information received from owner of the original shop in Italy).
Extremely beautifulpiece. I have seen othersimilar designs, but none as detailed or preserved as this one.
The lighter I am selling weighs 116g and it is the heaviest oval Cartier I have seen.Blank oval Cartier lighter weighs about 78g.
