Bird\'s Eye View of Casco Bay: Portland, Maine and Surroundings

(North America- United States- Portland Harbor- Back Cove- Portland Yacht Club- Falmouth Foreside- Sebago Lake- Freeport Islands- Mt. Washington in the Background)

Printedca. 1940\'s ( perhaps1950\'s (?)),(no imprint- but \"Down-East Sportcraft; Freeport, Maine\"). Could be slightly outside the date range we estimate- views with no imprint such as this can be very difficult to date since similar printing processes thenin use could vary widely by region/date. this means a company could be using printing presses, methodsand machinery just recently made or from decades earlier, producing color sheets which today are difficult to age pinpoint.

Originalvintage lithographed birds-eye viewmap. Likely very scarce, made exclusively for a small local Maine company to distribute privately mid-20th century.

Countless details are shown, dozens of islands named with interior details, buildings in Portland, extensive text below the view, etc. Later than many birds-eye views more frequently seen, indeed a view we cannot recall ever seeing prior to this example.

A detailed, scarce and interestingpanoramic birds-eye view which could readily be collected on it\'s own merits, displayed or given as a present.

InVery Good antiquarian condition, paper mostly clean overall, light minor age dustiness or light surface wear, original fold-lines as issued, overall themap is clean and very attractive. Remnants of old folder adhered to back of one panel.

Please inspect photos closely- any noteworthy flawsto the printed surface area should be noticeable withinpictures provided. These pictures form a central part of the item description and we encourage you to studythem carefully. We will send the actual antique item shown.

[note: We grade very conservatively. We are doing our best to show & describe this item so you are happy when it arrives].

An interesting vintage printedmap that any collector, dealer, institutionor person of taste would be happy to own or display.
