Chelsea Clock Co., Chelsea, MA circa 1944 U.S. ARMY MESSAGE CENTER Clock with an original six inch 12/24 hour original dial, original white glow tip spade hands, and white recessed Arabic numerals. Has a white Chelsea full sweep seconds and a second red Meridian time hour hand. It is fitted in a black phenolic case with \"CHELSEA CLOCK CO BOSTON\" stamped on the back witha swing open bezel. Embossed below the center arbor in two lines of upper case white lettering are the words \" U.S. ARMY CLOCK, MESSAGE CENTER, M2\". Has an 11-jewel lever escapement, an 8 day time-only movement, and a micrometer type regulator. All Chelsea maritime/military clocks of the WWI and WWII eras were built to the exacting specifications of the U.S. Naval Observatory.
