This set features a crossed twig frame around a windmill on one side and a garden on the other. Pieces are marked with the pattern name, \'ALASKA\' and the initials , \"W & Co Hanley\". Made by Whittaker & Co of Hanley in Staffordshire England in the 1880\'s. This was years before our Alaska state.
These were featured in Lorriane Punchard\'s book , \"Playtime Pottery & Porcelain from UK & US.\"
The set was my grandmother\'s who was born in 1880. She was an only child and only the waste bowl and one cup have tea stains, (see photo) Otherwise, there is really no wear on the pieces.See photo for the barely visible crack on the sugar bowl on both sides. Pieces are 6 cups, 2\" tall, 5 plates and 5saucers approximately 5\" across each, waste bowl 3\", teapot with lid 3 5/8\", sugar with lid 3 5/8\"
