We are pleased to offer this c1850 Chinese export silver harbor scene mug.

From the highly regarded Canton shop of Linchong (See Forbes).

One of the finest examples of China trade silver in our 40 year collection of over 350 pieces.

Guaranteed to be export silver.

Unlike 99% of the examples listed in under the category of Chinese Export Silver.

Which are fakes, post export period and/or not even Chinese or silver.

Tapering cylindrical form double walled.

Brilliantly carved Chinese village harbor scenes.

The mug decorated with sixteen of more individual figures.

And seven different ships and fishing boats.

Center with two masted junk with two figures, each controlling a sail. Single mast junks, fishing boats, some with nets.

The flowing river water depicting using delicately engraved wavy lines. A technique found in Meiji silver. Almost never seen in Chinese silver work.

Along the river bank fishermen with gear,cooking standing. Thatch roof cottages, pagoda, mountains and pine and bamboo.

The center shied with the original Gothic MG engraved letters.

Unique caterpillar cast handle.

This important c1850 Chinese export silver harbor scene mug is 4 3/8 inches handle to edge and 6 3/4 standard ounces.

Hallmarked as shown.

In excellent condition. Rich silver patina throughout. The village figures, ships in river and fishing scenes retain most of their original crisp, vibrant detail. Handle secure.
