These large 1st RankScholars enamel on porcelain plaques, with the exception of a few small bare porcelain spots to the top right of the scholars wife are in excellent condition. I have conservatively dated these as Republic Period, however could very well be late Qing as this type of symbolism in rank ceased to exist early into the 20th century. Please look at the close up photos and the detail in the Dragonpainting design on the arms of the lady\'s robe, simply amazingly intricate, and again we are talking about enamel decoration...so very exacting.
Even the framing is exceptional as there are 8 precision fit wooden wedgeplugs thatare simply removed and the plaque taken out for ceremonial celebration. Once finished simply place the backing on and fit the plugs back in to hold the plaques safe and secure.
