Anoriginal Christopher Dresser Blue Tit tile for Minton\'s China Works, Stoke-on-Trent, ca. 1870
An eight inch (20.5 cm) tile in a spectacular Dresser design. Transfer printed and hand painted, the design depicting a pair of blue tits perched on grass stems against a blood red background, with bulrushes at the edges and a stylised white flower at the centre. This tile design - also known as the \'Tomtits\' tile - adorned the cover of the famous Christie\'s Harry Lyons sale of fine Dresserpieces in London in 2004 and there are similar examples (with off-white instead of the red background) on permanent display at the British Museum.References

The condition is very good indeed. There are a few very minor surface imperfections in placesconsistent with age. Please see the photos that I have provided for thebest possible guide to condition. There are no significant damages such ascracks or signs of repairs. Bears maker\'s marks and the Victorian registration kite mark to the reverse.
