The Meriden Britannia Company purchased the hollowware division of the Rogers Brothers Manufacturing Company in 1862. The plating shop was later moved from New Haven to Meriden in 1866. Since then, the Meriden Britannia Company has been making silver history, acquiring Forbes Silver Co. in 1894, and Wilcox & Everton of New York in 1895.
