Tom French at Artifax Books wrote the eloquent copy below and I have \"borrowed\" it for this description.

This is the Central Scientific Company\'s dynamo [i.e. generator] analysis apparatus, shown as model F3691 in their 1929 Catalog F. It is comprised of two sets of permanent magnets, and a flat coil which can be rotated in ten-degree steps on an axis perpendicular to the magnetic field. The rotations are produced by a spring. This measures about 11 inches wide, and 5 inches high to the top of the magnets. It weighs 11-1/2 pounds.

The coil would be connected through its brushes and binding posts to a ballistic galvanometer (not included) on which throws are produced proportional to the number of lines of force cut in each ten degree interval. Plotting the throws produces a sine wave, thus demonstrating the operation of an alternating current dynamo. CENCO references Millikan and Mills\' Electricity, Sound and Light, page 134.

This rare piece is in excellent [in fact it seems to be new as it retains the original tag] cosmetic condition and as shown is a fine display curiosity. Mechanically it works fine and electrically the coil checks out at 50 ohms but it is otherwise untested and offered \"as shown.\" Very well packed shipping weight will be 15 pounds from zip code 24012 .. Priority Mail or FedEx Ground shipping.
