Description:Themapis from the Atlas to Accompany the Official Records of the Union and Confederate Armies, published by the Secretary of War, (Washington: Government Printing Office, 1891-1895), undoubtedly the most complete set of accurate maps of the Civil War ever published. The title of the atlas appears in the top left margin and plate number in the upper right. A copy of the title page is includedwith all the publishing details for authenticity. The atlas was published in a very limited contextto bedistributed to government officials in the three houses of government as a reference for assessing the Civil War. This is from the original first publishing, that lasted from 1891-5. It is a very interesting map showing the confederacy, dated June 30, 1864 on the map. Also interesting are the details of the military departments out west and the territory configurations. It is quite detailed showing the Santa Fe Trail, the Pony Express route, the southern US Mail Route, the Oregon Trail, Bridger\'s Route, Fremont\'s Route, gold mines, silver mines, forts, and other details.

Size: Themap image measures 16 by27 inches on a pagemeasuring approximately18 by29 inches with plenty of margin all around for framing. It is a full double page sheet as issued.

Condition: The map is in Good to Very Good condition for its age with overall tonal aging, blank on the reverse with a centerfold as issued. There is general wear around the edges with a few short tears and nicks, darkening along the left edge and a couple of minor smudges in the margin, otherwise it is very clean with a strong impression and a nice antique tone that would frame up nicely. Pics are of the actual map. The actual map looks much better and is very even in tone.
