This manuscript copy of Order 18 by Joseph E Johnston lays out the terms of surrender of the Confederate army under Johnston. The document is headed -Headquarters-Army of Tennessee near Greensboro North Carolina April 27 1865. It begins with \"By the terms of a military convention made on the 26th by Major W T Sherman USA and General Joseph E Johnston CSA...\" and it then goes on to spell out the terms of surrender. This important order is listed in Parrish and Willingham. This order is not signed by Johnston but by an Adjutant General. It is one page, faint but readable writing and light stains. The back contains the name of the Adjutant Generals, Arch Anderson and R C Gilchrist, and J A Buck, none of whom have signed the order. Written by W S Sawrie, Adjutant General and signed by him.
