Extremely rare, this spoon has over come up twice in over a decade according to our research. Up for sale, 1894 silverplate Gusky\'s spoon. The bowl is marked GUSKY\'S 1894 and decorated with an eagle and crossed cannons. It\'s just under 6\" long. Gusky\'s was the first department store in Pittsburgh PA established in 1880 and was the site of the 28 NATIONAL GAR ENCAMPMENT in Sept. 1894. The GAR (Grand Army of the Republic) was a fraternal organization of Veterans of the Union Army who served during the Civil War. Shows wear commensurate with age, note toning or wear on back (some would call this plate loss) but overall amazing for something this old.
