Civil War Dug 12lb Case Shot Cannon Ball / Artillery Shell Gettysburg Rt30 West:
I am a long time relic hunter in Gettysburg and starting to sell off some of my relics For sale here is one of the neatest relics that I have dug. This is a civil war 12lb case shot cannon ball that was used by both sides during the war. This ball is in nice shape and has some of the original finish on it. If you look in the shell you will see the case shot inside that is made up of round balls and bullets. I was thinking about cleaning the shell up but honeslty it will take away from the true history of it. If I cleaned it, it would remove the tar coating that they use to put on the balls at the arsenal. As you can see this shell has never been fired and is missing the fuse. When I dug it I checked all around hopein to find the fuse for it but dident have any luck. This shell was dug around 10 inchs deep. I found this shell along RT 30 west of Gettysburg not far out of town. Shell was dug on PRIVATE land with owners permission. Ask any questions you have. FREE shipping on this one.... I really hope this shell goes to a collector. I hate to part with it but I am in need of the money. Will I ever dig another shell like it in Gettysburg? Most likley not. If you would like a letter with this shell I will provide one no problem. Thanks again for looking
