The Junior Classics Illustrated series consisted of seventy-seven different titles. Each title had the original comic and then up to as many
as ten reprint editions which can be identified by the HRN (Highest Reorder Number), usually found on the outside back cover, or the HRN
together with the date of publishing.There is only ONE Junior comic that has no reprint editions. That title is #577 THE RUNAWAY DUMPLING
which is also the last Junior title to be printed. Information about the Junior Classics is sometimes sketchy,debatable, and/or incomplete.
Dan Malan\'s book on Collecting Classics Illustrated is probably the most comprehensive in listing information about the Junior Classics,
but even that book had some incomplete information about the different editions and different variables available. I also find the information
in the Overstreet comic buyer\'s guide misleading and incomplete. I find that availability and condition of the comic as being most important
in determining the value.You are purchasing #573 THE CRYSTAL BALL, a 3rd edition, HRN 576, printed in August of 1966 in VERY GOOD condition.
There are three editions.Description:This 3rd edition junior classic reprint is in VERY GOOD condition. There is very good color and moderate gloss on the covers.
The comic lays flat and its staples are firmly attached to the spine. There is moderate spine wear. There are many little bends and creases
on the front cover including a long (7 inch) diagonal bend on the right side. There is a tear just below the lower staple that breaks color. There is
a 2 inch split at the lower spine which has been neatly closed with archival mending tape. The back cover exhibits wear as well with some outside
edge tanning along with some minor stains a bends. Amazingly,the dot-to-dot AND the coloring pages remain untouched. The inside covers are
cream-colored with little edge tanning. The inner pages are also cream-colored.
