This is a woven silk picture of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. A newspaper article with the piece says it was woven at the Columbian Exhibition in Chicago in 1893. It is in very good condition but the matt has some shading to it from age. The frame hastwo damaged corners. Please see photos. Size of the entire framed item is 8x11-1/2 inches. Size of silk weaving is 2-1/2 x 7 inches. Wording woven into the picture itself says: Declaration of Independence July 4th, 1776. Imprinted on the matt is: Woven in Pure Silk, and Signing of the Declaration of Independence July 4TH 1776
This picture is part of an old collection given to me by my father prior to his passing in 1990. I have to downsize myself now and will be selling items as time permits.
