This sale is for a lot of (3) connected original Civil War documents. They deal with a man named HENRY TAYLOR; who substituted for a man named AUSTIN L MILLER for enlistment in the Civil War. They were from the town of Guilford, in Chenango County, New York. There is a document titled \"MARSHAL\'S CERTIFICATE of ENLISTMENT and MUSTER\" from 1864 at Norwich Headquarters, and signed by S. Gordon. The document it is attached to is titled \"Form 31. Certificate Of Non-Liability To Be Given By The Board Of Enrollment\", and tells about Austin Miller having a substitute so he does not have to serve. It is signed by S. Gordon, and a couple other people in 1864 as well. Lastly is a smaller document titled \"Certificate Of Exemption\" shows Austin Miller being discharged from Service and dated, Norwich, Sept. 8th 1864; and signed by the County Judge and County Clerk; with a documentary stamp attached as well.In fairly good condition for their age with signs of wear and handling including:Surface wear and blemishes; minor soiling/staining; creases/folds; minor tears; other blemishes and wear; etc. \"B.Makowski\" watermark is NOT on actual document.
