This is a very old and rare Native American woven matI purchased this at a local sale a few years ago.It came from the estate of a collector of Native American baskets and weavings.this onewas accredited tothe Costanoan tribe of Central Californian Coast near Santa Cruz/Monterey Bay.made of grass that has been dyed in multi-colorsroughly 23\" x 48\" in total size.nice weave that is still very stable.condition is good.the colors are still distinguishable for the most partthere is red, blue, green and yellowish colors that I can still make outthe ends were knotted originally, but much of them have come undone.there is a water stain about 4\" x 2\" on one of the plain colored stripesthe mat is still flexible and does not shed.A wonderful addition to any collectionlow starting price and .Please ask any questions or comments before offerding.If you may know any more about this type of weaving please let me know so I can share.Thanks for looking and please check my other sales for more unique items.
