You are offerding on an Autographed Antique CDV Photograph. This was taken out of a Civil War Era Photograph Album. The following is information I found on James Edwin Cross:
CorporalJames Edwin Cross(March 27, 1840 - January 6, 1917) was anAmericansoldier who fought in theAmerican Civil War. Cross received the country\'s highest award for bravery during combat, theMedal of Honor, for his action at Blackburn\'s Ford in Virginia on 18 July 1861. He was honored with the award on 5 April 1898.[1][2]James E. Cross, ofBatavia, N.Y. Wounded in the right arm, in the War of theRebellion, at Games\' Mill, Virginia; received the \"HonorMedal,\" voted by Congress, for gallantry at Blackburn\'sFord, Virginia, July 13, 1861.
With a companion, refused to retreat when the part of the regiment to which he was attached was driven back in disorder, but remained upon the skirmish line for some time thereafter, firing upon the enemy.[1][2]
The photo is stamped on the back and was taken by Knight & Eales Photographic Rooms in Batavia, New York.
