\'Still such a little cutie, despite the condition issues . . . Sold AS IS
Vintage ~1950\'s Nelson Originals Lucite Box Purse w/Reverse-Carved Lid
Measurements: ~6 1/2\" long x ~5\" tall x ~4\" wide; weighs ~13 oz.
The label glue has long since dried out; the label is now affixed with Scotch Tape :)
Lucite or Bakelite?? . . . Bakelite is thermoSET & will NOT (heat) warp :) . . . Lucite is thermoPLASTIC,and therefore, still \'deformable\' by heat, pressure, etc. :(
Issues to report: The handle is missing. The front & back panels are warping, separating from the side panelsat all four corners, where the lid meet the body of the purse :(( . . .I can only guess that this is due to age (?), not heat,as the purse has only been displayed on a shelf in my bedroom closet, and wasn\'t like this when I bought itat a fleamarket, several years ago. Also, wear to the finish on the brass latch/hinge hardware--Photos #5-9.OTHERWISE . . . NO chips, NO cracks; for accuracy, there are also a few scratches to the lucite, on the bottom of the purse.
Construction: the front/back panels are joined to one long, continuous panel that makes up the bottom & sides.
Possible Uses: Scavenge for parts (ie: the lid) or simply use the purse as it is, at the dressing tableor in the powder room to hold cotton balls, hair brushes, ???
