The set is unmarked. The pattern is most often called GOAT, and is sometimes marked such. Attributed to Edge Malkin and Co or Cork Edge & Malkin, a 19th century Staffordshire pottery manufactory, and is commonly marked with the pattern name GOAT. The pattern is discussed in Doris Lechler\'s English Toy China as well as Lorraine Punchard\'s Playtime Pottery and Porcelain from the UK and US.

The set is in very good overall condition with no chips cracks or repairs. Stilt marks and other typical nineteenth century firing imperfetctions. This is a winsome animal and genre pattern. Children\'s transferware of this quality is quite scarce and highly sought after. Offered as is, animal lovers and transferware collectors willadore the little cup and saucer!
