DAVID-ANDERSEN Sterling+Guilloche Enamel Flower Pin~Forget-Me-Not Brooch~Norway

Thislovely guilloche enamel ongold-platedsterling silver brooch or pin with 3 flowers and6 buds is by \"the Norwegian Georg Jensen\" as Christie Romero called the well respected Norwegian silver makers David-Andersen in Warman\'s Jewelry. Ithink the flowers depictedare thedelicate forget-me-notand with the exquisite enameling, they are absolutely beautiful.

The piece is highly detailed and the enameling is superb, ingorgeous and harmonious shades of blue, green andwhite. I love the way the metal that frames the enamel elements is slightly raised which sets off the enamel strikingly, especially at the centers of the flower heads, where the green is framed by a 5-lobed form that echoes the 5 petals of the flowers. And the buds are placed to peek out from behind the flower heads, which makes the brooch extremely dimensional. The lines in the enamel under the petals are longer in the centers than at the ends, adding to the sense of exuberant movement in the flowers, which are fairly bursting with life.

The broochmeasuresabout1-1/16\" square by 1/4\" deep.

Itis signedon the back in raised letters \"David-Andersen Norway-Sterling 925S \". (Penultimate photo.)

Thebrooch is in Very Good vintage condition with expected surfacedirt and light scratches, including a small crescent-shaped surface flake at the top of apetal that is stable and notlikely to worsen. It is at the outer edge ofthe petal in the 5 0\'clock position in the flower on the right in the photos but it doesn\'t show, even in the enlarged pictures, andis hard to see in person too as it did notaffect any of the colored enamel surface and would never be noticed when you wear the brooch. The piecewasbeautifully goldplated in a rose colored gold (vermeil) which is entirely intact andremains quite shinygivingthe pina lovely patina; cleaning and polishing is left to the buyer\'s discretion.

David-Andersen is known fortheir artistry in enamel as well as for some of the best Scandinavian mid century modern design. Flowers have inspired artists working in all media through the ages and this is a wonderful interpretation of a glorious bouquetand a terrific example of their work. This lovelypiece of wearable vintageart looks so pretty on and will be a terrific addition to your collection!
