DELIGHTFUL CIRCA 1900 ANTIQUE FRENCH ALPHABET SAMPLER 9 YEAR OLD MARIE MAROON:

This is a wonderful antique cross stitch sampler, showing various decorative alphabets, stitched with multi-color wool thread on cotton fabric.

The sampler dates from the late 19th century or very early 20th century.

It was made by a French girl named \'Marie Maroon\'. She was 9 years old at the time (\'agée de 9 ans\').

This is quite a large sampler, the stitched area measures approximately 17 1/8 x 17 inches or 43.5 x 43 cm.

The fabric has some dirt on it and has a few small holes in it. There is some loss of stitches, please see pictures.
