DF 10x80 WWII German Flakglas Fernrohr binoculars Schneider “dkl” markings:

I’m cutting back on my military binocular collection to fundanother project. This set was made byJos. Schneider, a firm which continues today as Schneider-Kreuznach.

It’s hard to tell for sure, but this example looks to havebeen repainted, which would account for the faintness of the mfr markings. Stripping off the paint and applying a thinprimer and topcoat should restore the strong markings. IPD knob and filters work as theyshould.

Eyepieces have no abnormal wear and no chips/scratches,although they can be hard to turn (new lubricant would fix that). The right prism is a little dirty; the leftone more so; a cleaning should fix all that.No chips. Both objectives showonly the typical cleaning marks on the outside, but do show some lightsnowflake marks on the interior. These arehard to photograph so I did as well as I could.

Despite of these faults, the view is pleasant and the binoscan be used as is. The right side view isn’tas clear as the left, mostly due to the eyepiece reticle deteriorating (look at the pic taken through the right side, and you can see how the view is clearer adjacent to the crosshair marks). So unless you\'re planning to use these to spot fire for your 88mm, you can just remove the reticle entirely (there are instruction on the web for removing it). 14 days return; if you don’t like ‘em I’lltake ‘em back.
