This is soooooo beautiful!!
Dating from the late 1800s this antique French trinket casket is much larger than the usual ones and is such a wonderful display piece, almost like a miniature vitrine display armoire.
If you are able to see the simply chateau facebook page you will see the little chateau this has come from.
The glass is thick and bevelled and all in wonderful condition.
The frame is dark warm old gilt and there is a pediment top rail of leaves that add a superb touch.
The door opens left to right and the inner is delicieux. The interior is padded and upholstered very pale lavender silk with tiny silk covered buttons of the same colour.
There is a small gilded hook in the back for a watch or trinket. The silk is all in wonderful condition.
The chest stands on four small scrolled feet with flower and acanthus leaf detailing.
The door catch holds fast and the measurements are:
