I am not the builder nor original owner. Therefore, I cannot tell you about the skill of the builder or the age of the completed kit. The boat is inside a wood framed Plexiglas case. It is NOT mounted to the base but sits on a blue plastic cradle. This kit is NOT radio controlled, nor does the paddle wheel run, nor does it smoke. The stacks are solid. The paddle does turn but only with human power. I gather the people glued to the model are not stock.It is an impressive static display.
