Thisis a charming little pattern glass (EAPG) individual open salt cellar. It was made by the Duncan Miller GlassCompany, formerly of Washington, Pennsylvania.It is made in Crystal or clear glass color and is part of Duncan’s “TwoPly Swirl” pattern. It is a qualitypiece of pressed glass as you would expect from this company.

I am gradually selling my saltcellar and individual nut dish collection that at one time was over 1,800pieces. This particular piece has beenin my collection since 1984.

Specifically,this is Duncan’s # 51 “Two Ply Swirl” pattern Individual Salt. It is pictured on page 158 at the followingwebsite and according to this website it was produced circa 1902:

Thissalt is also pictured in the book 5,000Open Salts by William Heacock & Patricia Johnson in Photo # 2659. In the most recent price guide I have forthis book this salt is considered “scarce”.

Itis in excellent condition. Please lookclosely at the photos as they are an important part of my description of thisitem. There is some minor roughness/tinyflea bites to the ribs in the pattern around the body and some minor roughnessto the top rim - see the photos.Otherwise, there are no chips, flea bites, scratches, cracks, hairlineor repairs. Please keep in mind thephotos may be blown up at least 8-10 times normal, so anything you see willlook 8-10 times larger in the photos than it really is.

Pleasenote: if you see a dark spot in the photos it is from my camera and is not amark on the piece. It will be eitherjust to the right of center towards the bottom or slightly above center on theright side of the photo.

Itis about 2” (5.1 cm) across and sits about 1.375” (3.5 cm) off the table.
