Precious antique EffanbeeBaby Bubbles twindolls; completely dressed in their original outfits. They have the mostdarling, happy little faces! Bubbles was one of Effanbee\'s first commercial successes. Her designer was Bernard Lipfert who also created Patsy, Dy-dee, Shirley Temple and the Dionne Quints. Bubbles was first issued in 13 - 14" size around 1925.
The original owners of the dollswere twins who never married and lived together all their adult lives. They carefully savedand storedtheir favoritechildhood toys. There was two of everything in their estate!
These twin Bubbles dolls are 13"and 14" tall and fully marked on the back of the shoulder plates. They have composition heads, arms and straight legs with cloth bodies. Both have mama boxes and one still cries. They have pretty blue tin sleep eyes and open mouths with teeth. The outfits include lace trimmedone-piece undies, slips, pink organdydresses with bonnets, cotton knit socks and oilcloth shoes. One dress still has the originaltag.The dolls are almost 90 years old and not perfect, but nice. The outfits are in good shape with no rips or stains, but lightly soiled.One doll haspaint lifting on the top of herhead, this is the most severe issue on either doll. (please seelastphoto)On thisdoll there ispaint lifting behind one ear and ahairline paint crack behind theother ear. On the second twin she has slight paint lifting behind one ear and a hairline crack in the paint behind the other ear.On both dolls there is paint wear on the arms and legs, this is not cracking but alight surface paint flaking. Please feel free to ask questions. In spite of some age related imperfections, you do not often come across twin Bubbles dolls in their original outfits. These adorable dolls have a wonderful antique ambiance and display beautifully together.
