David Andersen established his firm in 1876 in Christiana (now Oslo) Norway.
Andersen (1843-1901) was a gold and silversmith with a keen sense of quality
and the high standards of his workmanship brought early success. By 1888,
Andersen was able to expand his workshop intoa steam-powered plant and
a 2nd retail location was opened in Oslo in 1892.

In 1901, Arthur Andersen took over the firm. He changed the family name to
David-Andersen and introduced the use of enameling to the company\'s gold and
silver jewelry and holloware. The new line was so successful, that enameled
jewelry is nearly synonymous with David-Andersen. The David-Andersen firm is
still a family business, run by the 4th generation of David-Andersens, Uni and Jon.

The David-Andersen company has kept up with artistic styles over its 134 year history,
and their artists have produced jewelry and other objects in the styles of:
Naturism, Dragonstyle, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and Modernism.
