Original watercolor signed and dated 1941 by artist David Windfield Scott, 1914 - 2009. Landscape with mountains and gray clouds.Signed in the lower right and on the right is the note \"For Martha - David 93\".Framed and matted under glass, the wood frame measures apprx 17.75\" x 20.5\". The image within the matte measures apprx 10.5\" x 14.5\".Very good condition except for a tear in the black paper on the back.
Born in 1914. his family moved to Claremont California, where he studied with Millard Sheets. He also was involved with the Laguna Beach Art Assoc., received his degree from Harvard, and Masters Degree in Painting back in Claremont.After WWII he returned to Claremont and ultimately became chair of the Art Department at Scripts College.He then spent 20 years at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC, and then a brief stint as Director of the Corcoran Gallery.
