Wait wait wait... a real Dell Optiplex 3020 starting at a 99¢ offer? whats the catch ?

This is a Lab PC, meaning... Dell issued this PC to me (along with dozens of others) in an attempt to putthem through their trials before hitting the U.S. Market... that\'s what I do, I\'m a hardware developer and Dell is only one of the companies I work with. Here\'s how it works. The production facility builds the PC like any other but before it gets assetted (labeled for retail sale), they remove a few hundred off the assembly line so that people like me canrun various tests to make sure all the parts that go into them work as designed.

Now while I cannot divulge the results from the tests, what I can do is sell the computers I test once I\'m done testing them. The tests are harmless to the computer and I always put a brand new hard drive in before I sell them.

The PC\'s may show minor signs of wear from regular movement across the testing tables and from setting computers atop one another but the aesthetic affect is minimal and does not affect the integrity of the PC in any way.

There are a few things to consider before buying a lab demo.

1. There is no service tag, no express service code and no way to warranty the machine... They do not exist in Dell\'s warranty system.

2. There are no returns. I test these machines thoroughly before listing them. If they do not work when they arrive at your doorstep, the issue occurred during shipping, Please handle it with Fedex.

3. There is NO DIFFERENCE between the retail Optiplex 780\'s and this one, they are one and the same and came off the same assembly line in Mexico. Same motherboard, assembly pieces, hard disk, ROM disk, casing, fan... everything. In fact... I had to request how I needed them built for the test and they processed my request just like a normal request is made.

No, the hard drive will not come with any OS pre-installed.

Dell offers every driver free of charge. Go to http://support.dell.com and search for the Optiplex 3020 to download them.

Because they are practically new andthey were put back to their original state by my team (who are all qualifiedbyDell for this model as Dell Self Dispatchcertified)Myteam and Iknow these machines inside and out, how each component works andall the IC specs.

I actually consider these machinesnew but I cannot technically list them that way.

The only thing that might be different than a brand new machine out of the box are tiny scuffs due to normal movement across the lab benches from one testing pod to another, they\'re minute and do not affect the performance or stability of the machines in any way.
