Original Denison smock in good overall used condition.
As the original label has been replaced at some time(not by me)by a repro WW2 label I am not sure of the date or type of this smock but is in the colours/cammo pattern similar to the WW2 smocks and not the later 59 Pattern type. Somebody has said it could be a 1946 pattern and others say its an early 1959 pattern but as its in the WW2 type cammo pattern I honestly have no idea but sure it would be suitable for WW2 or Suez collectors/Reenactors.
Smock is apart from 1 missing cuff in complete condition with its Donkey Tail intact as are all the pockets,zip and pop studs etc. Pop studs are all NEWEY stamped,brass faced with chrome/nickle reverse.Zip is a nice brass FLASH made one with its original cloth puller intact. Zip has a few teeth missing but doesnt affect its use at all. The zip as can be seen is the 1/2 zip type and not the later full zip.
One cuff missing but replacements can easily and cheaply be bought on . For some reason most of the inside lining material has been removed,presumably used for repairs but not all on this smock as the only repaired patch is on the left elbow area.
Colours are still quite bright and not washed out as a lot of these smocks tend to be.
Condition I would rate given its age and the heavy use these smocks were subjected to is good to very good-as already mentioned,1 cuff missing,zip missing a few teeth,couple of field/period repairs|(largest is an L shaped repair to the rear as can be seen in the pics),couple of nicks here and there plus a few holes to the rear. Smock has never been washed by myself and is a bit dirty and ALSO as can bee seen has a couple of blackish brown marks to the rear(may wash out??)-no idea what these are so please be aware of them before offerding.No major fraying to the hem or collar as again is common with these smocks.
Measurements are hard to give accurately as these smocks have \"bat wings\" but approx underarm to underarm laid flat is 28 inches. For any more detailed measurements please get in touch but please be aware that this smock is being sold as a collectible item so if intending to wear please make sure it will fit as cannot accept a return if it doesnt fit.Sleeves appear to be quite short.
So there we go,a nice original Denison starting at 99p with so cheaper and better than any repro available.
