1927 – Alfred Dunhill launches therevolutionary Unique lighter, the first to be operated using just one hand. Developedin the mid-1950s, Dunhill produced one of the first butane gas lighters. Thisiconic design has remained relatively unchanged since and was regularly used byJames Bond in both print and on the screen.

This piece is a rare collector’s lighter.

The brown Dunhill box is included, as well as a manual,and refueling directions.

Made in England – as imprinted on lighter.

Description:

Thisbeautifully crafted antique lighter is a rare example of the Dunhill Range.This unique lighter is silver plated and black lacquer with a double wheel. Lacquer is a liquid made of shellacdissolved in alcohol, or of synthetic substances, that dries to form a hardprotective coating for wood, metal, etc. As depicted in the photos, lacquergives off a shiny glossy appearance that amplifies the glamour andexclusiveness of this classy lighter.

Thelighter has lovely vertical lined pattern in silver plated metal, surrounding asmooth rectangle made up of black lacquer. The sparking mechanism is structuredin a stylish fashion resembling lighters from the 1920’s. The flame can beadjusted for more power to less power.

Onthe bottom of the lighter, the company name “Dunhill” is imprinted, as well asthe type of Dunhill: Unique. Lighter is 2.9 inches in length, 1.2 inches inwidth, and 0.5 inches in thickness.

Function:

Tospark a flame, simply lift the cover and swipe the large wheel towardsyourself. To extinguish the flame, just lower the cover on the flame. Torefuel, unscrew bottom screw with a flat screwdriver until cap is removed, theninsert the tip of a Dunhill butane canister (not included) and firmly push downuntil you hear a hissing sound of the butane flowing from canister to lighter,and then hold it there for 5 seconds. After waiting a few minutes, the lightershould be ready.

Condition:

Thislighter is pre-owned but in perfect working condition. It was purchased roughlya decade ago and barely used. It has some trace age, but nevertheless, a stunningjaw dropper of a lighter with real presence of antiquity. All aspects ofdescribed appearance are evident from the crisp photos uploaded.
