For a half century E. A. Carey hasbeen making \"Magic Inch\" filtered pipes.
The \"Magic Inch\" is an airchamber inserted between the imported briar bowl and the vented mouthpiece. Theinch is vented at the top and at the bottom, which allows cool outside air toenter and mix with the warm Tobacco smoke inside the \"Magic Inch\"chamber. As the cool outside air enters the chamber, condensation of the moisturein the smoke occurs. Tobacco tars, oils, and moisture, which normally collectin pipes, are squeezed out of the smoke. The residue drops to the bottom of thechamber and is absorbed by the Papyrate sleeve. The Papyrate sleeve spreads themoisture over its entire surface so it is exposed to evaporation by the outsideair. This pipe comes with a half dozen of the Papyrate sleeves. They do not have to be changed after every smoke. The sleeves are good for a half dozen or more smokes.
While today\'s E. A. Carey pipes aremade in the U.S., many of the older ones came from other countries.Ironically, E.A. Carey, which started out as an American pipe now has itsinternational headquarters on the Isle of Guernsey off England. But, thecompany maintains an E. A. The nomenclature on this pipe is very thin due to rubbing as it was used over the years.
This pipe has a push-style mouthpiecewith some very light teeth abrasions that have been minimized but I do not grind downmouthpieces and destroy their structural integrity.
It comes with a new Papyrate filterinstalled.
It has been smoked but not abused. Itrestored quite well.
This pipe has a flat bottom and is a good sitter.
I do not smoke dirty pipes, thereforeI do not sell dirty pipes. This pipe has been cleaned and sanitized and isready to smoke. I use nothing but non-toxic, biodegradable products inrestoring old pipes.
This pipe is 6 inches long. Theinside diameter of the Tobacco chamber is 13/16 of an inch. The height of thebowl is 1-7/8 inches.
