EAPG Gillinder LIBERTY BELL 1876 Centennial Exposition Oval PIckle Relish Tray:
$18.00

Description: The Gillinder company of Philadelphia won the right to be the glassmaker for the 1876 Centennial Exposition. They built a small factory on-site, expecting to use it to supply souvenirs for the Fair. But demand was so great, they had to operate their main factory at full capacity to keep up with demands. One of the things they produced was tableware in the Liberty Bell pattern, which consisted of an image of the famous artifact of the Revolution with a banner over it which reads, \"Declaration of Independence 1776-1876\" and \"100 YEARS AGO\". The 13 original colonies are listed in the lower part of the rim, though they\'re fairly faint on this example due to mold wear. This is the oval handled pickle tray or relish dish in this pattern. It looks like there are several variations of this tray; this one has log-shaped crescents on the handles. Size: 9.375\" long by 5.5\" wide. 1.25\" tall. Condition: Some slight roughness along the mold line along the edge of the dish, otherwise fine. Shipping weight is 1.5 lbs. Shipping and insurance will be $9.00 to any street address in the Continental US. We are always happy to combine shipping at actual cost. Please feel free to ask any questions you have about this item and please check out our other sales/listings for great and unusual ceramics, glass, and other items!BSS:CM
