EARLY 1900\'S Christmas POSTCARD, SANTA CLAUS IN PURPLE SUIT & CAP WITH BROWN TRIM, BAG & BASKET OF TOYS, HORSE, BALL, JESTER DOLL, GOLD FOIL, NICE DETAIL, EMBOSSING AND CONDITION, ***PLEASE VIEW ALL IMAGES BELOW AND READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION***
Up for sale is this great antique Christmas postcard showing Santa Claus in a purple robe and cap carrying a large bag or sack and a basket of toys. He looks a little tired and is bent over a little from the weight of the toys. There are lots of toys in the basket including a jester doll, a horse, horn and ball. There are two wide gold horizontal bars and two much thinner vertical bars outlining the scene. Embossed holly and berries surround the scene and Santa also has a sprig of holly in the hand holding the basket. The caption near the bottom of the card reads \" May you be blest this Christmastide with all good things\". The card is nicely embossed as can best be seen in the image of the back of the card below.
The post card is in good condition. The corners have a little wear and there are very tiny creases in all of them. There are some small specks of finish loss including one at the lower rim of the hat, the fingers holding the bag and a little spot on the holly on the left. There is light soiling on the front and back and a little 1/4\" crease on the right side. The card was never mailed and has no writing on the back. The manufacturer or publisher is not listed other tan a B in a diamond logo with P.C. 285 to the right. All photos have been enlarged to show the flaws and attributes of the card in better detail. The card is standard size measuring approximately 3 1/2\" by 5 1/2\". Please view all the pictures below to get a better idea of the condition of this postcard.
