Kurt Vonnegut
BeautifulFully Leatherbound SignedLimited Edition
In the more than half century since he sold his first short story to Collier\'s Magazine, Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. has become one of the world\'s most popular authors, revered for his penetrating vision of the simultaneously comic and tragic absurdity of modern life.
Born in Indianapolis in 1922, Kurt Vonnegut attended Cornell University and the Carnegie Institute of Technology before serving in World War II. Wounded and captured at the Battle of the Bulge, Vonnegut later survived the ferocious Allied bombing of Dresden, an experience that inspired his masterpiece, Slaughterhouse-Five.
Vonnegut studied anthropology at the University of Chicago, but when his thesis was rejected he took a job as a publicist for General Electric (he was later awarded his degree after his novel Cat\'s Cradle was accepted as his thesis). He quit GE a year later to devote himself to writing. Vonnegut is the author of twenty volumes of short stories, plays, essays and novels, including Sirens of Titan, Mother Night and Breakfast of Champions.
Kurt Vonnegut died on April 11, 2007 in New York.
