Collectors sometimes refer to these machines as “flat
top” trade stimulators – since they are housed in a rectangular cabinet. They
are rather simplistic in their design and appearance which makes them elegant
when you consider how effective they were at separating a player from their
The ELECTRIC SPINNER game has three dice. The player
simply decides the coin to wager (penny, nickel) and drops it into the slot in
the front of the case.
The dice table rotates by an electric motor (hence, the
name of the machine!) - - with the inserted coin actually serving to complete
the electrical circuit!
The player can hold the plunger in to allow the table
to spin - - and then when it is released the rotation stops.
There is a “watch window” on the side of the cabinet to
inspect and confirm a coin was actually played (not a slug).
The game is in fine working condition – with the wooden
cabinet have a bit of wear here and there but overall retaining the original
finish and looking quite good.
The game card graphics are in very good condition as
well – with some minor loss to graphics up above the pay schedule (see photo) –
not detracting much from the overall appeal of the machine.
The card is covered with clear Lucite – it is routed on
one edge to fit into the cabinet so it looks as though plexi was chosen in lieu
of glass. It looks good and is free of
major scratches or cracks.
The back door is wood and original – it has a vintage
CORBIN lock but there is no key. The lock is in the open position and it stays
in place on the game with no issue.
Overall a very nice 100% working example of a fine
vintage pre-war trade stimulator.
