THE FRAME: IS VERY SOLID AND MADE FROM BLACK PAINTED WOOD. IT HAS SOME SCRATCHES IN THE COAT OF THE BLACK PAINT (REPAIRED - PLEASE SEE THE PHOTO). IT MEASURES ABT.3.5” (9.0 CM).

THE ARTIST: PROFESSOR EMIL (AUGUST, THEODOR) WENNERWALD IS A VERY WELL LISTED DANISH ARTIST. THE ARTIST VILHELM HANSEN WAS HIS TUTOR. LATER ON HE GRADUATED FORM CARL NIELSEN SCHOOL FOR ARTISTS. HE ALSO STUDIED AT THE ART ACADEMY OF COPENHAGEN (WHERE VERMEHREN WAS HIS TUTOR) IN THE PERIOD 1878-1881. FINALLY HE ATTENTED P.S. KROYERS SCHOOL FOR PAINTERS (1884). HE HAS TRAVELLED AND STUDIED IN GERMANY (HAMBURG, BERLIN AND DRESDEN) AND IN AUSTRIA (THE TYROL). HONOURS AND SCHOLARSHIPS: RABEN-LEVETZAU 1890. HIELMSTIERN-ROSENCRONE 1891. THE ACADEMY 1894 AND 1897. BIELKE 1895. EXHIBITIONS: DECMBER EXHIBITION 18880, CHARLOTTENBORG SPRING: ARTISTS ASSOCIATIONOF NOV 18TH 1882, LUEBECK GERMANY 1895, BERLIN 1890 TOGETHER WITH NUMEROUS OTHER CENSURED AND SEPARATE EXHIBITIONS.
THE ARTISTS STYLE: EMIL WENNERWALD IS KNOWN FOR HIS BEAUTIFUL LANDSCAPE PAINTINGS WHICH REGARDING TO THE CHOICE OF COLOURS AND WITH REGARDS TO THE COMPOSITION SHOWS THE INFLUENCE FROM FR. VERMEHREN. HIS PAINTINGS ARE VERY NATURALISTIC AND REALISTIC AND BUILDS ON A THOROUGH STUDY OF THE NATURE FOLLOWING THE DANISH TRADITION FOR LANDSCAPE PAINTINGS. HIS FOREST LANDSCAPES WITH LUMINOUS LIGHT AND DARK GREEN COLOURS ARE SAID TO RESEMBLE THE WORKS OF NIELS SKOVGAARD AROUND 1880.
