EMMA LEWIS (d.) Native American Indian Acoma Pueblo Pottery :
$219.00

I am offering a hand-crafted, hand-painted seed pot by the award winning and well-known potter, Emma Lewis (1931-2013); signed Emma Lewis, Acoma. She is the daughter of the famous Lucy Lewis. Her sisters, Ann Lewis Hansen, Mary Lewis Garcia, and Carmel Lewis Haskaya are all award winning potters. This is a very stunning black on white seed pot decorated with numerous bees covering the surface of the piece. I purchased the seed pot from Emma in 1986 at Santa Fe Indian Market Days; excellent design; a very interesting shape, one that I have not seen before made by Emma; much detail. The stone polished slip has a pearly sheen; approximately 4 inches high and 2 inches wide; mint condition. Emma is featured in Southern Pueblo Pottery by Schaaf, Fourteen Families in Pueblo Pottery by Dillingham, Pueblo Pottery Families by PEaster, American Indian Pottery by Barry, among others. She has received numerous awards since 1960. Her work is found in many galleries, collections, and museums such as the Peabody Museum, the Heard Museum, Maxwell Museum of Anthropology and the Brooklyn Museum of Arts. “Google” Emma Lewis to see the asking prices for her pottery. The seed pot, made by this highly respected Acoma potter, is very collectible. As always, if you receive an item which you believe is not as described, please notify me and I will be pleased to refund the full purchase price upon return of the item. I value my customers and I appreciate your business! Shipping/handling $11.50. Never a reserve on my listings!
