THE FRAME IS A PLANE BROWN FRAME THE ETCHING IS MATTED WITH A BEIGE MAT

THERE IS SOME YELLOWING AROUND THE EDGE OF THE MAT.

ETCHING ITSELF IS CLEAR ANG CRISP AS ARE THE TITLE AND SIGNATURE.

Bio of Katharine Merrill
This is the bio that I have compiled from various sources on this artist. Katherine Merrill 1876-1963 Painter and etcher. Born 1876 in Milwaukee, WI. Died in 1963 in Sarasota, FL. Painter, etcher, teacher at the Art Student League and Charleston, South Carolina Museum of Art. She lived and taught art in Charleston, South Charleston after she had taught at the Art Student League in New York. Active in New York City, Charleston, SC, and Sarasota, Florida. She was President of the Sarasota Artist\'s Association. She painted in the Impressionist style. Eight of her works are in National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C. Studied: Art Institute of Chicago; New York Art Student League; with Frederick Richardson, Vanderpoel, William H. Low, Frank Duveneck, A. Herter, William Merritt Chase, and in London with Brangwn. Member: She was a member of the Society of American Etchers; Chicago Society of Etchers; Brooklyn Society of Etchers; California Society of Etchers; and the National Association of Women Painters and Sculptors. Work: Represented in print collection of the Library of Congress, Washington D.C.; Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington D.C.; New York Public Library; Art Institue of Chicago; Milwaukee Art Institute; Newark Public Library; Springfield Public Library; Art Department Beloit College, Beloit, WI; University of Chicago; Hackley Gallery of Art; Muskegon, MI; Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris, France; Collections of exlibris in Bookplate Collection of Capitol Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Widener Memorial Library; Harvard University; and the University of Chicago. Gibbes Memorial Museum of Art, Charleston, SC; and the New York Botanical Gardens. Address in 1933, 107 East 73rd Street, New York, New York.
