Up for sale with is a beautiful19th Century Victorian Period Sterling Silver Ale Tankard Cup or Mug. The Mug is of the finest quality throughout and shows nice signs of being completely hand made. The Mug also features exquisite Etched and Repousse Period Designs throughout plus fine reinforced base and top rims. Honestly one of the finest examples I have seen insome time. The Cup is invery good all originalcondition with no dents or repairs, there is just two small cracks to the top rim near the handle which I am sure could be restored. The Mug feautresa nice dedication to the front that reads Presented to Mary Lucy Lyle by W Butcher Sept 8th1866. The Cup is fully Hallmarked for the fine Period Silversmith John Tongue, Sterling Silver,Birmingham England and the Date Letter for 1866. The Cup is a very nice largersize measuring approx 4\" tall by 2-1/2\" across the base and is very thick Sterling Silver throughout with a quality weight of195 grams.
