This is a very beautiful, rare piece of late 17th or early 18th century silk brocaded damask with silver and gold metal thread, most likely Italian or French.
The design is typical of the period, with the damasked details looking almost like cast shadows, much more beautiful than the photos, and really hard to photograph. The colour is a good shade of peachy-orange.

The condition is mostly good for its age with quite a bit of restoration visible in places, see photos of reverse, this has been so well done, it hardly shows on the front, just some slightly darker silk threads noticeable here and there, otherwise wonderful, much better than the photos show, an interesting early for study or a collection. It measures about 22.5\" by 10.5\" or 57 cms by 26.5 cms. Thank you for looking.
