Original antique forged iron Hizen tsuba - Nanban style

EXTREMELY RARE CHRISTIAN MOTIVE

Alter: Edo, 18. Jhdt.
Höhe: 71mm
Breite: 67mm
Dicke: 5,5mm
Sonstige Merkmale: Geschmiedeter Stahl (kein Guß!), kompliziertes Sukashi, Kreuze und Drachen, Hizen-Schule im Nanban-Stil gearbeitet / forged steel (not cast!), complicated sukashi, crosses and dragons, Hizen school worked in Nanban style

Das Stichblatt befindet sich für das Alter in sehr gutem Zustand mit minimalen Gebrauchsspuren. Die Oberfläche weist eine intakte dunkelbraune Patina mit schwarzen Lackresten auf - kein Rost. Das Tsuba wurde aus geschmiedetem Stahl hergestellt und hat einen sehr hellen schönen Klang. Es ist sehr aufwändig geschnitten und teilweise vergoldet.

Das Motiv ist außerordentlich selten: Es sind mehrere vergoldete Kreuze zu sehen, die den Besitzer als Anhänger des Christentums identifizieren!!! Alle Merkmale (Patina, Oberfläche, Design ...) weisen dieses außergewöhnliche Stück eindeutig als eine Hizen-Arbeit aus. Vergleichbare Stücke sind in einschlägiger Literatur zu finden. Bitte anhand der detailierten Fotos selbst beurteilen!
Alles in allem ein qualitativ hochwertiges Hizen-Stichblatt in sehr gutem Erhaltungszustand mit äußerst seltenem christlichem Motiv, das auf einem Wakizashi montiert werden kann.

The state can be described as very good with only minimal wear. The surface shows an intact dark brown patina with rests of black laquer - no rust. The tsuba is made of forged steel and has a very nice bright sound. The carving is very elaborate, the guard is partly gilded.

The motive is extremely rare: Several gilded crosses can be seen, which clearly identify the owner as a member of the small japanese christian community!!! All features (patina, surface, design ...) do clearly show the workmanship of the Hizen school. Comparable pieces can be found in the relevant literature. Please reference to the detailed photos and judge for yourself!
All in all a high quality Hizen-tsuba in very good state of preservation with exceptional rare christian motive, which can be mounted on a Katana or Wakizashi.
