A charming early 18th century English School half-length oilportrait on canvas of an aristocratic lady wearing a blue satin dress.

Sitter as yet unidentified.

Artist - unknown but heavily influenced by the work ofMichael Dahl.

Michael Dahl (1659–1743) was a Swedish portrait painter wholived and worked in England most of his career and died there. He was one ofthe most internationally known Swedish painters of his time. He paintedportraits of many aristocrats and some members of royal families, such as QueenAnne of Great Britain, Prince George of Denmark and the exiled Queen Christinaof Sweden.

This fine portrait is presented in a gilt oval frame withfloral and foliate detail.

Condition - canvas laid on to later board. Minor surface craqueluer and some surfacedirt commensurate with age.
