Probably Italian c.1800. The Grand tour was an opportunity for young wealthy people to travel in Europe and learn about ancient civilisations and the cultures of different countries. These were collected on their travels as souvenirs and are all inspired by the classical designs of Ancient Greece and Italy. Grand tour pieces are commanding huge amounts of money for the rare pieces. These are not as rare as a full model of a monument but these are still scarce and come up for sale very rarely. So these are an affordable way to begin collecting pieces of history. This example shows Goddess Diana embracing a stag. Who is said to have control over nature and wild animals with the ability to speak to them. She was a symbolism of strength. Each plaque has a classical story associated with it. All available to read and understand on google.
