RARE ANTIQUE 18th C HEAVY AMERICAN Forged Wrought IRON CHOPPER Folk Art PAINTING. This is a wonderful and rare early American New England origin Iron Chopper. It is very uncommon LARGE HEAVY example and weighs approx. 1.4 lbs. We estimate it to be from the late 18th C or very early 19th C. We had a collection for many years and are now downsizing. This one has a beautiful half-moon shape and is painted very nicely with a folk art scene of a New England landscape with a central chimney on the early house. This is a one of a kind piece of folk art. It measures approximately 9.25\" long and approx 9\" wide. A wonderful piece of utilitarian folk art. It is in very good condition overall, retaining a nicely aged painted surface and patina some very minor edge wear as expected as this was used.This will make an nice addition to your antique or early FOLK ART or chopper collection.
